Coming back to the Dominican Republic was a long, thought-provoking decision. Last July I spent a week with the most wonderful children in Cuesta Arena and now I am here again to experience that love and grace given by God to these people. I feel completely led to do God’s work here and it’s a great gift to share this challenging ministry opportunity with so many amazing people that have led me through my spiritual journey. Today, God called me to play and work which was somewhat a new concept. Work hard, play hard. It was an extraordinary feeling of accomplishment as we worked together to pound down the dirt in all the rooms but my heart has also been led in another direction. There is one child, Juancito, who I have spent a great deal of time with him and feel a true connection to. I didn’t think he would have fun playing with a girl but he taught me how to throw a baseball correctly and kick a soccer ball at just the right angle. I am still waiting for my little girl I got to know so well last year to return but I am really enjoying this one-on-one time with Juancito because in the most simple ways, he is showing me his heart. We are only two days in and it has somewhat been a struggle but I know whatever God has planned for me I will do it heartily. Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men.”
