As many of you may have heard Hurricane Fiona has passed Puerto Rico taking out power across the island and along with mass flooding. Today Fiona is headed for the Dominican Republic. The rain has started and the waters have started to rise in many low lying parts. The East of the island is getting hit first. Santiago is geographically a valley between the mountains, which makes them a dangerous area for flooding. Rain this week prior to the hurricane has already washed out roads. You may recognize this as the road to the church in Santiago. Please keep them in your prayers today as they brace for the storm.
This year we celebrate 10 years of our school in Cuesta Arena being open and serving the community. This dream started before I ever knew about Cuesta Arena and fell in love with the people. This legacy stretches further than any of us could have imagined. It started with prayers of the faithful, dreams of the willing, and the sweat of many. This is an open invitation to any past missionaries, dreamers, donors, or prayers that poured into this mission over the years. We will be traveling next June 2023 for the 10th graduation. Message me for details to join the trip. Never traveled?? This is the perfect trip to join! Share the message. Tag a friend. Let me know
Sairy has been hard at work in Cuesta Arena. Today the plumber came out and fixed the toilet that didn’t flush, the sink that leaked, and put in a shower. Luckily we were able to salvage all the outer (expensive) pieces and get them up and running for next school year!
Big changes in Cuesta ARena. The basketball hoop is finally done for the kids to play on this summer. There was one final piece needed after construction with Christ UMC Venice started the project in Oct 2019. Covid shut downs delayed getting someone out to complete the last piece. Now this summer the youth have a place to go and play.
